BCHS teamed up with Elbow River Watershed Partnership to provide historically accurate information to be included on the “Watershed Heritage” interpretive trail signage. Bragg Creek residents and trail users joined dignitaries who officially opened the new trail on November 3rd, 2018. The Watershed Heritage Trail is connected with the larger network of hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing trails in the well-known recreational area of West Bragg Creek and can be accessed on the east side of the parking lot.

The Elbow River Watershed is a crucial element in the historical development of the Bragg Creek Area. The many creeks, springs and wetlands which are part of the watershed are woven throughout the community provide for wildlife and residents alike. Settlement of the area was contingent on the availability of a water source and this continues to be the case today.
The Watershed Interpretive Trail signage also pays homage to the Canadian Youth Hostel Association by detailing the history of the former youth hostel (subsequent to the first youth hostel) which was a feature of the West Bragg Creek recreational area until it was destroyed by fire in 1984. The Watershed Trail Leads into the Hostel Loop Trail which is enjoyed year-round by outdoor enthusiasts.
